To further the group's general skills and knowledge, programming for the Emerging Leaders is based on the SHRM Competency Model for HR professionals who are early in their careers. This model identifies what it takes to be a successful HR professional across the performance continuum, at all career levels, job roles, and job functions. October's core competency topic is Global and Cultural Effectiveness.  Led by guest speaker Claudia Jaccarino, attendees will learn about firsthand experiences with multi-cultural organizations and participate in an interactive discussion surrounding the benefits and challenges for HR professionals within a global organization. In her current role as Manager, Intercultural Programs for BGRS, Claudia works with Client Directors as a product specialist for intercultural products and services including global candidate assessments, ex-pat relocation programs, and group business programs. She has worked in the intercultural industry for 25 years encompassing work as a trainer and consultant for Corporations, Government Agencies, and Consulates. Claudia brings an overseas background to her client engagements drawing on her travel to every continent except Antarctica. Through this experience, she developed a firsthand sensitivity to and appreciation for adjusting to other cultures. She speaks French and Italian, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Boston University and a Master of Arts in Performing Arts from the American University in Washington, D.C.
