Brynne (co-moderator) and Lisa (co-moderator) have worked in the corporate D&I space with F500 companies - providing training tools and experiential learning to expand the D&I conversation. With eclectic backgrounds and experience from restaurant-running, to performing onstage at Second City, Lisa & Brynne bring a fun, millennial and unexpected perspective to D&I.

Workshop Description:

Our diversity & inclusion efforts at work are making tremendous headway, and current events/media intersect with these efforts everyday.   The landscape of diversity, equity and inclusion is ever-evolving.  How can we stay abreast of constantly shifting concepts, language and policies?   As HR professionals, how do we shift our approaches to make space for the rise of D&I? 

Nova will lead participants as we:

  • Unpack the landscape of change that comes with a “woke” workforce
  • Discuss social identity models and how the social identity framework can be a useful lens in your HR practice
  • Explore case studies and role-play scenarios for managing conversations on race, gender, and other complex identities. 

Participants will learn: 

  • How to take control of their own education around issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • How to leverage the social identity framework in order to build organizational equity.
  • An awareness of spectrums of experiences and truths – and how to reconcile that with a ‘check the box’ environment.
  • How to have conversations about a difficult topic, instead of difficult conversations.
  • How to take an active role in DEI, even without a formal program.
