Dr. Angie Besendorfer is the Regional Vice President of Western Governors University (WGU), an online, competency-based university. She champions college attainment for working adults who wish to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Besendorfer leads the efforts to connect students and community stakeholders with WGU’s online competency-based model for increasing levels of higher education throughout Missouri.Besendorfer has spent over 25 years in the field of education, implementing innovative and technology-focused learning strategies. Before joining WGU, Besendorfer was the assistant superintendent of Joplin Schools in Missouri, leading advancement in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and facilities. She was also an adjunct professor at Missouri State University, teaching in the master’s program for Educational Administration. Besendorfer has been a featured presenter at the International Leaning Forward Conference, the National Institute of Medicine, and has presented widely on 21st Century Education. She is a member of the regional Workforce Investment Board and the Mercy Hospital Community Advisory Board. Besendorfer is active with the area Rotary Club, museum complex, and Chamber of Commerce. Besendorfer has also received several accolades for her work including the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, the AASA Women in School Leadership Award and the Tri-State Business Journal Most Influential Woman.
Samara Beachdell, SHRM-CP, PHR - Samara’s HR toolkit is filled with 20 years of experience across HR, Payroll and Benefits and she continues to add to it every day. Throughout her career, Samara has provided services through a consultative approach to a range of businesses, from small, entrepreneurships to large, multinational corporations. She is recognized for building and maintaining a trusted advisor role to provide exceptional client services. Samara is adept at assessing needs, generating options and implementing solutions in collaboration with clients. A strong foundation of functional understanding of Payroll and Employee Benefits is the cornerstone of her HR practice. Samara’s broad-based knowledge makes her a “go-to” for contacts on any number of HR concerns including change management, management coaching, compliance, diversity and inclusion concerns and more. In addition to her current role as HR Manager, Strategy for Filtration Group Corporation, Samara serves as a volunteer member for the Chicago SHRM Board of Directors as Chair, Certification Committee. She is committed to elevating others in the Chicago area on their own journeys as HR Professionals. She believes in the power and benefit of sharing knowledge and as such, is an avid coach and mentor to individuals seeking guidance and reflection.
